My heart truly goes out to all of my fellow trans young adults, who have pushed through the gut wrenching, lengthy, difficult process that is accessing hormone blockers and then HRT on the NHS. Because it's not as easy as the British media likes to make it out to be! #TransUK
I was seen by GIDS for two years before I was allowed on hormone blockers. Hormone blockers are used on cis children when they start puberty too early. The effects are medically tested to be completely reversible and safe. Stop denying this scientific fact.
Trans kids on the NHS are NOT ALLOWED to access HRT before they're 16. Trans people are NOT ALLOWED surgery before they're 18. At the Charing Cross GIC, you need get approval from TWO SURGEONS before they can sign you off for surgery, which can take YEARS due to waiting times!
Trans people in the UK face such a battle trying to access a medical transition on the NHS, and THATS the fact. No trans person finds any of this easy, many resorting to going abroad or online to get hormones and surgeries, which is more dangerous but what has to be done
when you're let down by systems put in place that are not designed properly to help you. Don't let the media and misinformed so called 'feminists' tell you lies. Try and actually speak to a British trans person instead of ask for debate. LISTEN TO US WITH EXPERIENCE! #transgender
