Seeing as it’s Al Pacino’s 80th birthday, here’s five random Pacino moments I love...
Firstly, to get it out of the way, obviously that Dunkaccino commercial
Incredibly bad but committed cockney accent. It’s like Al Pacino doing an impression of Liam Gallagher doing an impression of Danny Dyer
Dancing really aggressively in an S&M bar in Cruising
Considering how brooding and iconic his performance as Michael Corleone was destined to be, I love how dorky and meek he comes across in the auditions
We’ve come to parody and even mock how big/hammy Pacino performances can be, but some of his subtle moments are his greatest. The acting he does with his eyes from 1.11 is unreal. The studio wanted to cut him from the Godfather, until they saw this scene
[as an aside, if you've not seen Dog Day Afternoon, get it watched. Great film, so many funny bits, Pacino and John Cazale
are amazing, and it's really progressive for 1975]
