I'm laying in bed, thinking about the Blue Lions playing D&D. Right now all I am certain about is Felix and Ingrid would both want to be a fighter until Ingrid realizes she can be a paladin.

And Sylvain would want to be a wizard.
Sylvain: I wanna roll a wizard.
Everyone: Um...are you sure?
Sylvain: Yeah. :)
Everyone: Okay...*braces themselves for Sylvain being a loose cannon made of glass*

But Sylvain would be really good at it. He'd always know his spells and have his spell save dc and attack memorized
He'd keep some standard damage spells out of necessity, like magic missile and fireball. But I think he'd like experimenting with buffs and debuffs, like haste and hold person, and utility spells like fly, identify, and mage hand. He'd be good at using his spells tactically too
Mercedes would choose cleric, I feel. She likes helping people, and that's basically the purpose of the class. Would focus on healing and heal other party members before herself, sometimes to her own detriment. Would choose life or grave domain.
Mercedes: Ingrid, what are you at?
Ingrid: 31. I'm okay. What're you at?
Mercedes: Don't worry about me. I'll be fine!
Ingrid: How many hit points do you have?
Mercedes: 5.
Ingrid: I'm coming over to heal you on my next turn!
Mercedes's character would need to be pushed into adventuring. Her cleric would get dragged in by a friend or forced to by her temple being destroyed. Eventually she'd get more into it & have a very emotionally satisfying arc by the end.
She'd also forget what her spells do a lot
Felix would be a fighter. He would wield a sword using his dex. He would think it's a really stupid game but would be not-so secretly pleased whenever he takes down an enemy. Probably min-maxes.

Felix: I take four attacks with my longsword. *rolls a 19* :> I critted again.
Ingrid would roll a devotion paladin. Would fall into the trap of making her palie a little insufferable. And would get the party into a lot scrapes b/c she would not let injustice stand. Would also spend a lot of time protecting Sylvain b/c wizards are made of tissue paper.
I need to think on the others, though I'm leaning toward monk for Dima and druid for Dedue. Will pick this up after sleep
I'm back. Where were we. You know, I almost forgot about Ashe. Tragic, I know.
Ashe would want to be a heroic character like the stories he reads. Fighter offers a subclass called cavalier which is tailored to being a mounted fighter. Aka...
So during the whole "I want to be a fighter, no me" spat, he would sit there, also wanting to be a fighter, but not wanting to get in the middle of it. Then, not to be to On The Nose. He would pick the ranger class. Because rangers are like fighters but you get an animal friend
Rangers are proficient with all martial weapons so he could lean into trying out swords or something, if he wanted. But then he'd have to spend his spell slots healing his animal companion as they level up and the animal didn't scale very well.
You can NOT be a beast master, but
I can't see him passing that up, I'm just saying. Anywho. His character would have a happy backstory b/c wish fulfillment. And he would choose to be an adventurer to make the world safe. Rangers are good for that because they a super intelligent about their favored enemies
Alright, Dimitri. I was of two minds on Dimitri. Barbarian would a good fight. But I feel like Dimitri might not be comfortable with that. Bard's out. And I don't think he would like the idea of being a rogue or a warlock. So after consideration, I picked monk. Aka martial artist
In D&D monks are all about discipline and control. They're powerful b/c they've fashioned their bodies into weapons to the point where they can manipulate their body's ki to resist things like mind control at higher levels.
That level of self-control would appeal to Dimitri
He'd also be one of the small races, like a gnome or a halfling. Ultimately I think he'd pick the Way of the Cobalt Soul subclass so he could kick ass & investigate the world around him. Basically if you took a detective & a MMA fighter.
He would try to take good notes but would break his pencils a lot out of excitement.
Dima: Sylvain, are you charmed!?
Sylvain: Yeah, sorry, when I touched the funny box. *casts fireball on the party*
Everyone: *yells*
DM: Roll initiative
Dimitri: *also yelling, breaks his pencil*
Dedue would want to pick something that would compliment Dimitri's choice. Once he realized that Dimitri's character would be physically safe he'd probably want to be a spellcaster because their party needs more. The idea of being a druid would appeal to him
He would not be a Moon druid however, he'd pick Circle of the Land and tailor his spells to be like the environment of Duscar. He would use his beastshape but would prefer to stay human and use his spells to overwhelm enemies for the party. Dedue would not fuck around
He'd be a little overwhelmed at first because you've got a lot of spells and creature stats to keep track of. But would spend an evening or two thoroughly researching the class until he had a good organized system for all his stats.
His character & Dimitri's would be friends
His character would also bond with Ashe's since they're both nature based.
He would take decent notes and share them with Dimitri when Dimtiri would want to fill his in after breaking his pencil an hour into the session.
And, finally, Annette would like to be a class with a bit of a chaotic good vibe. I'm thinking either a sorcerer or bard. Hmmm...probably bard. She wouldn't be able to help it. At first she'd be self concious of singing to give inspiration. But would become confident later
They wouldn't be her songs, like the box song. But she'd make new ones. Especially in the heat of battle.
Felix eventually would not-so subtly ask for inspiration just to hear her sing.
Annette would sometimes be clutch w/ her spells. But she'd also make mistakes
And waste spell slots on things she thinks would work but don't as well as she thinks they would. Sylvain would give her advice.
Annette: I'm gonna cast hold person!
Sylvain: *whispering* No, it's a fiend they're not humanoids.
Annette: Oh, you're right! I cast Shatter!
