the hill i will die on: if your approach to recruiting remote workers from the developing world is to dangle near or even below minimum wage salaries at them because "that's a good rate where they live" - you aren't ready to hire remotely at all and your ethics suck to be honest
as far as you get the same value/revenue from their work as you get from their coworkers who are on site, paying them half or a third (or even less sometimes!) of what you pay on-site workers is daylight thievery. you are a thief. i'm sorry i don't know how to mince words.
they said "hire remote workers", not "here are some 50% off coupons".
