Many years ago I had to cry, almost, standing before a painting of Raphael in the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino. In 1983 I was in Florence to see this famous Madonna of the Goldfinch, painted in 1506. #Uffizi @profdanhicks #MuseumsUnlocked

And this is the Raphael painting in Urbino, Portrait of a Young Woman (‘La Muta’) 1507.

We drove in 1983 with 2 little kids in a Renault 4 to Italy, camping, visiting Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Assisi, Perugia, Arezzo, Urbino and Ravenna. Photographs of that trip are color slides which were then in fashion. And lots of postcards. #MuseumsUnlocked @profdanhicks
