heterophobia/cishet jokes: a thread for the confused cishets.

disclaimer: i do not speak for the whole lgbtq+ community, everyone has their own opinion about this subject, this is mine (and i'm sure some people also share this opinion with me).

disclaimer 3: i'm genuinely trying to explain to people why "heterophobia" doesn't exist and isn't valid, since i guess, some people don't understand, and i hope this is helpful! i think we should try to educate instead of just insulting them, or they'll just hate us more.

so, let me just say something. the word "phobia" isn't just associated with irrational fear, it is also associated with aversion.
just wanted to set this straight since some ppl say "uh im not homophobic i'm not scared of gays boo hoo i have smol brain"

let's talk about why heterophobia does NOT exist. simple. straight cis people aren't opressed. cishets do not need to hide their identity to fit or be accepted in society.

cishet people aren't opressed because some random person on stan twt said "eat the cishets". cishet people aren't opressed because gays make memes about them. getting "made fun of" is NOT the same as being opressed.

being opressed is being harmed, bullied, chased, burnt, murdered. being opressed is having no freedom, because of something you cannot control. because of something that is part of you, that you were born with.

so, i'm sorry "kyler" that you wanna be opressed so badly that you cry on twitter when someone says "ew cishet".

now karen might say "well but why is it that they can make jokes abt us but when we make jokes abt them we r homophobic? " don't worry, i'll call the manager to explain this to you

there is a difference between seeing "shut up cishet" and "shut up gay" because lgbtq+ people HAVE BEEN silenced, how? you ask? well maybe when we weren't seen as people? just maybe i don't know.

maybe when lesbians had to changer their pronouns so they could be with their girlfriends, or maybe on that dark day, the orlando nightclub shooting where a SECURITYGUARD murdered 49 inocent people and injured 53, people who were just having fun at a gay club.

a securityguard. someone who is supposed to make us feel safe, did this. so yes, there IS a difference between "kill all cishets" and "kill all gays/trans ppl" because those people HAVE BEEN KILLED just because they were lgbtq+.

cishets are NOT opressed, heterophobia does NOT exist. everything you see online are jokes, i think the lgbtq+ community knows more than anyone else that, people shouldn't suffer because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

i'm probably gonna remember a lot of other things i could've said in this thread tomorrow, when i wake up. but it's okay. i really hope this thread helped you understand why your actions are harmful.

disclaimer 4: most of the things ive said also apply to other minorities. black people, brown people, asian people, jews, muslims, women, physically/mentally disabled etc.
( i said most because i won't talk for a community that isn't my own, it isn't my place).
