Chris Ballard is on Zoom with us...
Thread.... Says the 3-technique was the most obvious need. Got Buckner. Also said they needed some explosive playmakers, whether WR or RB.

"That's where Pittman and Taylor come into the equation."
Regarding Pittman, "Frank had a strong conviction on him.... About the receivers in this draft, it was about flavor. What flavor did you like?"
Some trade offers came in at 34, but they didn't like them enough to pass on Pittman.
Ballard said they had a Zoom call connected w the personnel staff with 20-plus people. Frank Reich was connected on another call with the coaching staff and they communicated back and forth when the coaches needed to be looped in.
Regarding QBs: "I told y'all the other day, we're not gonna force that."
re: Blackmon: "We were worried he wouldn't be there in the fourth. We know he won't be ready until late August, maybe September. He's a rangy fast player... He has a lot of value in our defense."
Ballard said the Colts kept having discussions about Taylor and finally Irsay piped up and said: "You've been talking about this guy all night. Why don't you go get him?"
Colts traded up a few spots and got the deal done.
On offensive line depth, it's something they're looking at, but Ballard doesn't seem hung up on it.
