For those who have not been following the #CambridgeAnalytica developments this Donald Trump app is eerily similar to early political app plans they developed around the idea of "gamification" to encourage political action, feed news, and track them.
It should also be noteworthy Phuneware usually operates at a loss, which is a bit suspect.

Does the Trump app also promote gamification? Check mark.
Full realisation of early Cambridge Analytica plans.
Note: The remnants of CA may not be connected here at all, just drawing the parallels between this app and what CA proposed. So if you are worried about CA and Trump, then you should be worried about uCampaign/Phuneware and Trump.
The early version of this app is seen in this screen shot from 2016. You can win achievements based on political participation and donation
I think the power of gamification in apps is well known. If not, here is some research on its use for health apps

uCampaign developed this app. Below is a snapshot of what they can do.
uCampaign also operates the firm Political Social Media LLC, in charge of collecting and managing all of the data that uCampaign collects.
Thomas Peters founded uCampaign in 2014. He also founded a peer-to-peer texting app for GOP campaigns.

Second: Your data and behavior privacy is always at risk and is being used against you in political campaigns.
I hate it, but it is becoming quickly clear being cognisant of how your data is being used against you, and then protecting it, is part of ensuring a healthy Democracy.
