I've poured through the daily state data for #Coronavirus cases. And the data tells a story on social distancing.

Of the 43 states and DC that have statewide stay-at-home orders, the daily growth of diagnosed cases rose by an average of 38% before the order. And by 9% after it.
Bear with me, because I'm going to lay out exactly how I got these numbers. So you can check for yourself.

Daily growth: the percentage difference in the number of Covid cases in a state between Day 1 and Day 2. So if there are 10 cases on Day X and 12 Cases on Day X+1, +20%.
For every state that has (until yesterday) a statewide stay at home order, I picked the following things:

- Date of the first case in the state
- Date of the stay at home order

Averaged daily growth between the date of the first case and the order. Then daily growth afterward.
Now, to be fair, in the early days of the virus being in a state, the daily growth number can be large. Going from 1 to 2 cases is 100% growth.

But if you compare these numbers against the states with no stay at home orders and their growth, you will see a difference
This is going to be long and boring to some. But, on the other hand, what else do you have to do?
