A supernova is an explosion of a giant star, and it's one of the brightest objects of the night sky. They can outshine ENTIRE galaxies for days or even months. However, scientists wish to record them, for supernovas are a once-in-a-lifetime event—
like how SuperM is to us.

Their debut was explosive, to say the least. They're stars, full of talent and life, so bright they can bring light and excitement everywhere they go. And they're also a once-in-a-lifetime happening; SuperM is truly a supernova of a group.
Nova comes from the Latin "novus," meaning "new." Which is what SuperM is, and what we are—not only new in terms of time, but a concept pulled off in a new, unprecedented way. De nova stella, indeed.
Novas relates to the Marvel deal, as there is a organization called the Nova Corps in the Earth-616 Universe.
Nova, as a name, pairs well with any of the original fandom names: novazen, novawol, exonova, novazenni. It pairs well for multis: novatiny, novarmy, ornova, etc. etc.
In SM lore, Supernova goes with the locational theme of the OG groups: NCT has their NCity; EXO, EXOplanet, SHINee, SHINee World; SuperM has a Supernova. 
In conclusion, I'm a nova because:
- SuperM shines like the stars themselves
- No copyright from former groups
- It goes with... everything related to SuperM, basically; it's a meaningful name
- Our lightsticks match
