Rewatching some old Mourinho games. Here are some things that stood out:

- While most of his team& #39;s have featured one attacking, one defensive fullback the usage hasn& #39;t been quite like at TH. Usually the back 4 maintains its shape throughout and the midfield plugs the gaps
The offensive fullback mainly comes into play when attempting fast counters. These fullbacks(Maicon, Marcelo in particular) are known for their pace and stamina so they can contribute very well in counters and get back into shape quickly. Ivanovic is a bit of an exception
At Spurs it& #39;s been different. The LB, Japh/Davies has been tucked in as in his other teams, but Aurier remains wide and forward even when in controlled possession. This is a problem imo, and a reason why we& #39;re so easy to pick apart.
I think the reasons for this are twofold. Firstly not having someone who can provide width on the right the way Son does on the left. Maybe Bergwijn can change this. And secondly, and the more likely explanation- Aurier is unreliable defensively.
- All his team& #39;s have featured a pivot midfielder with a very expensive passing range and usually excellent vision: Lampard, Cambiasso, Alonso, Cesc, Pogba. All of these played are renowned for their playmaking abilities and passing range. Their passing range is important because
it can be used as a quick way to gain yardage and bypass opponents counterpress. Right now we& #39;re lacking in this department and often rely on Toby from CB to do this. Winks is making good progress in making his passes more expansive which is positive. Ndombele & GLC are
fantastic at playing quick, vertical passes which can push us upfield though. Neither of them, maybe GLC to an extent tbh can really play long distance through balls yet. This isn& #39;t so much of a problem because of the verticality of their passes. But in any DM that we do buy
This would be a nice added bonus(Sangare, Camavinga ahem).

- Son is literally the perfect player for Mou. Like Hazard, Ronaldo he can be lethal on the break and he can put in a shift tracking back. Bergwijn on the other flank would work well

- A clever number 10 is another
Common feature. His sides have included Sneijder, Ozil and Oscar. All three of them are very clever with their movement and can thread through balls. We& #39;ve got good options in this regard- Dele and Gio. And both have thrived under Mou
- Apart from Ibra, he hasn& #39;t really used a static target man. His usual preference is for someone who is physical yet mobile, and can run into channels. An important consideration for our Kane backup

- His teams rely on players following instructions
Some of his failings at Utd can be attributed to not getting this out of his players. Additionally, partly because of Sanchez& #39;s failure, he could never quite build the components he needed at Utd. Something we should be looking to avoid
In summation:
- Offensive RB should attack only on counters- partly down to Aurier
- Try and get a long passer in at DM. Also don& #39;t use Winks as a 6, he cannot defend, mould him into a rotational 8.
- Son is essential to the team
- A couple of roles Gio can play really well. He
Is going to to be key.

- Kane backup isn& #39;t that important because it& #39;s not a starting position, but a mobile target man is needed rather than a static one like Ibra, Fellaini
Some other points I forgot to mention. Their midfielders work hard and can defend. Currently only GLC can do this for us. DM very much top of the priority.

CBs have excellent positional sense and defend the box very well. Also very aggressive and not necessarily ballplayers
