A lot to unpack here.

1. The whole "white saviourism" concept is bullshit. It's about a man saving a kid, regardless either ethnicity. I don't see why you can't be both white and a hero? And I don't see why it can't be an Indian kid that needs rescue? https://twitter.com/armasfilm/status/1245373667091111936
2. No one's depicting Muslims as terrorists. It's like doing a film on Italian mafia, not all of us are part of mafia but the movie obviously is about the ones that are. If they make a movie about mafia I'm not going around whining that they're picturing ALL of us like that.
3. Are we gonna pretend there's no crime in Bangladesh? That they "villainized" it? https://twitter.com/Everybody_Sings/status/1245829344708214785?s=19
4. By the way not all the Bangladeshis people are villains in this movie (even the other hero is Indian). Just like not all white people in other movies are the heroes. Also Tyler's own team is very diverse, ethnically.
5. They only portray him as a hero to an extent in the movie, he's literally a mercenary. If they dehumanize the "villains", they do it with him and his team too.
6. They didn't cast actors from Bangladesh because Bangladesh is only the setting. The characters are Indian. An Indian crime lord's son was TAKEN to Bangladesh. The other characters are not supposed to be Bangladeshis either. For example, the woman is British-
- or Australian in the movie, judging by the accent. You just assumed she would play a Bangladeshis because of her (Indian) features, so that's on you. The only misscasting was the colonel if anything, which has 5 minutes of screentime at most.
7. The idea that "it's Islamophobic" just because the villains HAPPEN to be Muslim makes no sense. There's no reference to religion, literally no reason to make that connection.
It's like, if I don't enjoy your company while you're also Muslim, am I being racist? Nope maybe you're just annoying. Has nothing to do with you being Muslim.
8. OF COURSE the movie poster showcases him solo. He's literally the main character?? You're complaining that the main character is the only one in the poster?? 🤦🏻‍♀️
9. He didn't disrespect any culture. He was celebrating with Indian people, which they actually appreciate as you can see. And he apologized for the second picture anyways.
10. I'm pretty sure you have to get a permit to shoot a movie in any location so he most likely didn't disrupt anyone's peace while making the movie.
11. The film is actually the adaptation of a graphic novel, not that it matters anyway.
12. 12 Strong is based on a true story. Besides, if you're upset about glorifying the American army, then you should complain about literally any movie with American soldiers, because American people believe their veterans are heroes.
13. At this point everyone's just looking for a reason to cancel people and I'm tired of it. I'm not denying all the unjustified oppression minorities have suffered, but calling everything a white person does "racist" ain't it.
14. My final point is, movies are just that: movies. Stop overthinking every single thing for the sake of complaining. Fake woke Twitter is getting boring.
