An apt summary of what I& #39;m hearing from doctors re: @shandro& #39;s attempt to walk back some of the sweeping cuts he forced through on April 1.

. @shandro& #39;s claim he& #39;s engaged in any level of meaningful consultation w/ @Albertadoctors or Alberta doctors or that he or his MLAs brought any of these & #39;solutions& #39; to the table would be laughable if it wasn& #39;t such an outright lie. #ableg

. @shandro has demonstrated an total lack of leadership or integrity on this file. He blindly forged ahead with short-sighted policies despite warnings from multiple fronts & attacked & denigrated any who told him they& #39;d do the very damage he attempted to undo today. #ableg

While doctors showed incredible solidarity & leadership in the face of an unprecedented attack from their gov& #39;t & an oncoming global pandemic, @shandro displayed childish behaviour utterly unbefitting of his role as a Minister of the Crown. #ableg

Alberta doctors shouldn& #39;t have had to spend this much of their energy, to endure this much anxiety & face this much hostility from their gov& #39;t for their voices to be heard and for such poorly-developed, harmful policy to be stopped and rethought. #ableg

And for @shandro to stand today & refuse to admit any mistakes or accept responsibility for his poor decisions is an insult to both physicians and Albertans.

Alberta doctors are heroes, not liars. I can& #39;t say the same for him. #ableg

The only way @shandro & the UCP can even begin to restore any trust or good will w/ Alberta doctors is to restore their contract, rescind sections of Bill 21 allowing gov& #39;t to unilaterally tear it up & return to the table w/ a third-party, independent arbitrator. #ableg

Thank you to Alberta& #39;s doctors for their tenacity, resilience, and commitment in their fight to build, maintain & defend a system that allows them to provide quality care for their patients.

Albertans see you and stand with you. #ableg
