Reviewing Mosalsalat Ramadan 2020 so you Don’t Have To: A Thread
Starting off with the 6:30PM time slot we have “Regalet el Beit” starring Ahmed Fahmy and Akram Hosny. It’s funny. Like actually laugh out loud funny but the episode is predictable and gets boring ten minutes in. A great thing to have on in the bg while you have iftar though!
Next we have “Lama Kona Soghayareen” starring Reham Haggag, Khaled el Nabawy, Mahmoud Hemeida, and Karim Kassem. A star studded cast with little to nothing to offer. Unnatural and Reham Haggags acting is not only bad, but distracting to any good acting that might be happening.
Yousra comes back this year with “Kheyanet Aahd” starting strong on the first episode. While it was interesting and captivating, the drug addiction storyline is extremely overdone. Might watch a few more episodes though to have a final verdict.
The 7:30 time slot is pretty empty with channels airing talk shows and random crap I won’t even bother mentioning.
The only thing in the 7:30 time slot worth watching is “B Meet Wesh” starring Nelly Karim and Asser Yassin. It’s kind of weird for most of the episode, portraying some kind of heist team storyline. However, by the final 15 mins I was hooked. At least to the next episode.
At 8:00 PM we have “Le3bet el Nesyan” starring Dina el Sherbiny and Ahmed Daoud (and ofc my girl @daoud_hana). The first episode is promising and foreshadows an interesting and complex storyline but looks like it’ll be a confusing one. Dina’s wig sucks.
Another contender airing at 8:00 is “Layaleena 80” starring Khaled el Sawy, Eyad Nassar and Ghada Adel. The costumes and set are accurate to the 80’s and make the series enjoyable and worth watching. Didn’t get to see a glimpse of the plot on ep. 1. Ghada Adel’s voice though??
At 9:00 PM my favorite mosalsal so far airs on CBC. “W a ehen Tany Leh” starring Yassmine Abdelaziz is the most promising out of all I’ve seen today. I can see the plot going somewhere I like, good acting, good directing, and it’s not unbelievably unnatural and obnoxious.
Next we have “Forsa Tanya” starring Yassmine Sabry and Ahmed Magdy. Truly atrocious. The worst thing I’ve watched today or ever. I’ve genuinely never seen worse acting or directing or writing in my life. It’s the weirdest and least organic plot ever. Save yourselves the effort.
At 10:00PM we have “Al Nehaya” starring Youssef Al Sherif. A dystopian drama that portrays what society looks like in the year 2120, tackling issues like an energy crisis and mass extinction. The writing is weird but the post production is really good and at a high level.
