I've been quarantined away from my mom for the last 2 months so I just wanted to post something about her that I thought of today. /thread
I know there's the stereotype that Asian parents are sometimes less than supportive of their kids dreams, especially for those who want to work in the arts.
My mom was a single mom and working ALL THE TIME trying to provide for us. Some days she'd drop me and my sis off at Barnes & Noble after school and we'd spend the day reading.

I was probably around 10 years old when I discovered the book "How to Draw Comics The Marvel Way."
After that, all I wanted to do was write and draw comics for the rest of my life.

So I told my mom that was what I wanted to do when I grew up.

She didn't really say anything right away.
But then, that weekend, I woke up and my mom said she said we were going for a drive.

When we got into the car, she handed me a page she'd ripped out of the yellow pages.
It was the page that showed every comic book store in the Greater Boston area.

She said that we were going to spend the day driving to every comic book store on the list.
That day I went to New England Comics and Million Year Picnic for the first time. I discovered there were stores that ONLY sold comic books. It was... amazing.
I think for her it was a way to keep me close and also to show me that whatever I wanted to do, she'd support me.

That's the kind of parent I want to be for my kids. And it's the greatest gift I was given as a child.

I truly wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for her.❤️
