@CholoColcho

The idea behind my Spain/Portugal is not only to film the gaps with well known names, but also try to make it a little more funcional. Given that, I will make a 23 man-squad:
GK:

Iker Casillas, will be the starter without a doubt. Rui Patricio as cover.

2 out of 23.
Defense:

CB's gotta be the best part here. I think that playing a 3 ATB with Pepe, Ramos, and Piqué would actually be really functional, so those 3 are a must for me. Fourth spot stays with Puyol and a 5th for a great Fernando Couto.

I think that they complement themselves really good. Piqué and Ramos ability with the ball make them easy to pair with a lot of defenders, but Pepe's ability to be aware of space and predict play, while handling a high line shouldn't be under the radar.
Honestly, I just can't do this without a pair of full backs, in order to be versatile and adopt formations with 2 CB's: Paulo Ferreira and Jordi Alba.

Midfield:

This gotta be the funniest part, so I will divide this between CDM and CM. I will include wingers in the Forward part.
CDM:

This gotta be the easiest part. Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets fill this part perfectly.

11 out of 23.
CM:

It is evident that Iniesta and Xavi make it without a doubt, but I think that Rui Costa is a definitive part too.

The next picks are trickier, but my choices: David Silva, Deco and Maniche. My idea was to put a midfield with common traits but different approach.

Forwards

They are clear for me: Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo are evident.

Nani (yes) and Joaquín. Spain isn't that of a threat in wingers, imo.

These guys have it all. Goals, flair, progression, speed...

Anyone of them could produce a moment of magic to solve a game.

21/23.
Centerforwards:

My first pick is a harsh fight between Torres and Raúl. Torres has the edge of being part of THAT Spain generation, but I think Raúl has more traits that would earn him a spot, 1/2
And the fact that the wingers I selected have a good instinct for goals made me think that Raúl would be capable of linking up a little more efficiently than Fernando. Tough fight, though. 2/2

22/23
For the other spot, I have to pick David Villa. A versatile, intelligent, player... I honestly loved him. He is a really underrated player.

23/23.
GK: Casillas and Rui Patricio.
Defenders: Ramos, Piqué, Pepe, Puyol, Fernando Couto, Alba and Ferreira.
Midfielders: Alonso, Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi, Rui Costa, Deco, Maniche and David Silva.
Attackers: Ronaldo, Figo, Nani, Joaquín, Raúl and David Villa.
