Attn SAfA members: We have been notified there is still some debate about having physical #Safa2020 meetings. My opinion is that this is not practical or safe. Ive emailed the committee urging them to shift to an online format. If you agree, please do the same (1/4)

I dont want to harp on the reasons why I think a physical meeting is a bad idea. Instead I want to highlight benefits: (1) online venue would greatly ease financial restrictions that prohibits much of the African member base from participating. (2/4)

(2) More participation may mean more memberships, easing financial losses of possible cancellation; (3) Massive reduction in waste and carbon emissions. (4) Positions SAfA better for a more digitally driven future. (5) Reduces health risk to members to 0. (3/4)

Of course I want to see everyone in person and catch up and have the great time SAfA always is. We have so many years to come for that. I do not think that this will be a serious consideration unless many people agree and actively reach out to the committee (4/4)
