Thread of things Jason said during a zoom chat with Friends Of Figure Skating today. It was a lovely chat aside from me wrangling a squirmy four year old (the video on my end was OFF
)

Regarding Worlds: He has mentally prepared himself for a cancellation since so many sporting events in the US were not happening. “Skating is a global sport. There was no way we were all going to go and gather in one place.”
He said that he was trained and prepared for Worlds and had been making a lot of positive changes to his peograms. But he doesn’t feel it was wasted because his hard work will carry over into next season.
Jason is staying with his family in including his siblings, during quarantine. He notes it’s the first time all three of them have been home together for an extended period of time in nine years.
He’s been cooking a lot and trying new recipes. When he’s training, he tends to fix the same dishes over and over so he’s enjoyed trying new things. Apparently he’s discovered the phenomenon of pancakes made with bananas and eggs.
“When I went to try it ... (I thought), “oh my gosh what did I do?!” it was a testiment to where I was.” https://twitter.com/myohmizmai/status/1253804517981736960?s=21 https://twitter.com/myohmizmai/status/1253804517981736960
He’s been focused on finding ways to use off-ice workouts to emulate the training he was doing on-ice. He realized that it involves finding workouts out to promote movement. It made him appreciate how much moving he does when he is skating.
Jason really loves exercising. At one point, he talks about connecting with friends, he’s suggest doing a workout together. In other words, if you want an accountability buddy, Jason is your man

Also this is not in chronological order...

He said that he deals with having no ice time by working with what he has. He said that when he was in high school, his parent prioritized him going to public school and staying at home (rather than move and leave home) and he had to work skating around that....
And that he feels it’s similar — you work with what you have, he’s been doing a lot of online classes, picking the brains of other skaters (I presume his training mates) whose off-ice jumping technique he admire, etc...
He’s talked to both Rohene and DWilsom on programs not just for next season but the Olympic year. They are looking and talking about two new programs next season, but “I also have more to give with the programs I have.”
When asked what he looked forward to most when resuming on-ice training, he said he couldn't wait to work with Tracy.
”We were in this groove together and making progress on my skating, my maturity and my programs.” He said they talk 2-3 time a week.

He also talked about how much he looked forward to seeing and training with the other TCC skaters. Speaking of which: https://twitter.com/myohmizmai/status/1253802946254397440?s=21 https://twitter.com/myohmizmai/status/1253802946254397440

He says that he's been staying positive by seeing what others are doing to help. He said his dad’s lighting company has shifted to manufacturing PPE and that inspires him. ”You try to do the best you can and do your part to help if you're able to.”
He says when he returns to Toronto depends on when the border reopens but he also is keeping public health and safety in mind. He said he doesn't want to do anything that would cause people to get sick.
He sees this another challenge on his road to the next Olympics. The part to qualifying for the Olympics is difficult and this disruption is something to get through.
Tangent to note that he mention he's still taking college classes online (he's done one or two classes every semester since 2014) and is taking a Mass Media class right now.
That's it! He was upbeat, positive and gracious as always. I think he is enjoying the extended time with his family but seems very much motivated to not let this deter him.
