Hoshiumi's backstory is eerily similar to Washijou's, a moment of learned helplessness that shapes their philosophies. Inspired by his mom, Hoshiumi deals with being short by developing strength in other areas. Washijou lives vicariously through powerful & tall players as a coach
"There's no way to make yourself taller, but there are lots of ways you can be better."

"I was convinced that if you didn't have enough height yourself, you didn't have a choice but to find ways to fight without height." Washijou's words describe Hoshiumi.

HINATA IS DIFFERENT
With this jump, Hinata has shattered Hoshiumi's, Tenma's and Washijou's longstanding beliefs on being limited by their disadvantage. He makes himself taller and fights with height by jumping over block-- he hasn't accepted that his weakness limits him. Hinata gives them hope.
