so, i was bored, and got curious on how far 1 Mii data file could go.

so, here is Michael Tutori on every Mii editor ever, starting with...

Mii Channel (Wii) [ Wii Music Mii data file > Wii's Mii Channel via a save editor (or just replace this step with your Mii on the Wii) ]
Mii Maker (3DS) [ Mii Channel imported > 3DS Mii Maker via wireless connection ]
Mii Maker (Wii U) [ Mii Maker 3DS imported > Mii Maker Wii U via wireless connection ]
Mii Editor (Switch) [ assign amiibo's owner Mii on Wii U > save Mii from amiibo on Switch ]
Miitomo (smartphones) [ generate QR code on Mii Maker (3DS) > scan QR code on Miitomo ]
Tomodachi Collection (English fan translation, DS) [ Mii Channel imported > Tomodachi Collection via wireless connection ]
Tomodachi Life (3DS) [ import Mii from Mii Maker (3DS) > Tomodachi Life ]
Miitopia (3DS, sorry, this was the best pic i could get) [ import Mii from Mii Maker (3DS) > Miitopia ]
Mii Studio (any device with a supported browser, sorry about my revolting monitor) [ set user Mii with linked NNID account on Wii U > import linked NNID Mii in Mii Studio ]
so, what was the point of this?
well, aside from the fact that *the* best unused Mii ever is now on all of my devices with his original Japanese name and everything... this shows that even with the Switch, Nintendo is still finding (albeit expensive) ways to support backwards compatibility.
i was honestly surprised that i made it so far. i thought that Tomodachi Collection or Mii Studio would've definitely stopped me, but they kept going.
i also could've probably come up with a more creative way to get him in Miitomo, like probably using the same method as Mii Studio (linking NNID Mii to the game) but since Nintendo shut down Miitomo, there wasn't any way i could do that.
i didn't want to resort to just scanning QR codes a billion times since that's no fun. but even for the devices that don't have a camera, i was able to get my Mii on there. it's incredible.
i'm so, so happy that Miis have this kind of backwards support. i just wish Nintendo was like this about more things. such as virtual console, for example... but you came here for Miis, not to hear that "hot take" for the hundredth time.
all the devices in this thread:

Wii*
DSi XL*
New 3DS XL*
Wii U*
my shitty phone
PC
Mr. Resetti amiibo (please bring him back in New Horizons please please)
Switch

systems with a (*) can not theoretically be emulated to transfer Miis.
sure, you need a *lot* of devices to make this all work, but if you didn't have a Wii and a 3DS, what were you going to transfer to/from? this kind of support is really great.
now, in all fairness, the Switch *did* drop support for QR codes. but that's mostly because it doesn't have a camera. i mean, to scan QR codes on the Wii U, you had to hold your GamePad backwards over your phone and you looked stupid.
if (more optimistically, *when*) we get a new game on Switch that focuses on Miis (something close to Wii Sports or Miitopia or Tomodachi Life or literally anything please Nintendo) then it'd probably use the Nintendo Switch Online app to scan QR codes, just like Animal Crossing.
at least, that's my guess. but i wouldn't be surprised. every single Mii editor out there has a way to transfer from the previous one. the only technical exception being Mii Channel, since there were none before it, so you couldn't possibly.
forgot two games! i knew i was going to miss some really obscure one. this first one is probably the most obscure game i've come across: "Ide Yousuke no Kenkou Mahjong DSi"

a Japanese only DSiWare game about mahjong that uses Miis for some reason.
Ide Yousuke no Kenkou Mahjong DSi (aka Mahjong DSi, DSi) [ Mii Channel imported > Mahjong DSi via wireless connection ]
that game has no legal way to obtain it anymore. weird to think about.

the second game however *does*, and honestly, even if you did emulate it/use a R4 card, you need another real world accessory for the game, so it would be pointless. so, waiting for that game to arrive. ^^
