As a SAO Fan, I see a ton of hate for the Fairy Dance Arc and people are looking at the surface of the arc and not beyond it. This arc was one of the best arcs for character development and has a deeper meaning then what people trash it for. Kiritos development in the ALO Arc-
was amazing. In ALO he learns that he can not do everything on his own like in Aincrad and that he needs help because mostly in SAO, he was going solo. Almost everything he did in ALO, he could not have done without others without help from others. Leafa takes him all the way to
world tree since he can't do it himself. Also along their way Sakuya, Alicia, and Recon help him take down the World Tree since he could not do it himself. Also he has himself a big monologue when he is close to dying when he is close to rescuing Asuna being punishment because-
his ideal was basically doing everything himself and thats wrong because he does get help from, Kayaba during his fight at the end of the series and even breaks down after defeating Sugou. Kirito then says he is no hero and he isnt strong as he should be able to protect for-
Asunas Sake. Next topic is a big topic saying that Asuna is a damsel in distress role that she had during this arc. PHYSICAL STRENGTH IS NOT THE ONLY TYPE OF STRENGTH. Asuna actively tries to escape and if she never did try to escape, Kirito would have never got to her without-
her help. She almost escapes and she stays fucking strong as hell through MONTHS of being stripped of her power with a fucking psycho, with the idea not knowing if her love is dead or not. She even comforted Kirito when he was weak RIGHT after she got molested. SHE is not a-
DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. Suguha is not a bad character, she is infact one of the best characters. She had to deal with her brother distancing himself without even knowing the reasons, practiced harder because of how the brother who wanted to do nothing with her, then suffers knowing -
anytime that her brother could die at any moments time. Suguha even decides to start playing online games just to connect with Kirito during the SAO incident after he gets out which was hopefully at the time and becomes one of the strongest players in ALO. Also she plays a BIG
role in helping Kirito rescue Asuna and without her that would have never have happened. Alright next topic is Kazutos/Sugus Relationship. Kazutos and Sugus relationship shows how fucking strong of a person Sugu is, being able to fix their relationship which crumbled due to-
many years of being distant to each other and even helping her grow close to the SAO friend group. Also its not incest, just a simple crush that she does admit that is wrong and she admits she does not like being in love with him and burys her feelings. I have heard shit like-
being added to Harem because she falls for him twice and thats fucking bonkers because if you love somebody but cant be with them and then somebody else comes along the way and treats you the same way as the person you DONT want to love. its only common you are going to fall-
for them. What is even more heartbreaking is that the second person is THAT first person. Suguha is one of the most underappreciated strongest characters in the SAO series. This arc showed more of Kayabas true intention behind the SAO incident and let me say, the Anime did a-
horrible job of his convo with Asuna and Kirito at the end. What he wanted to see is to the strength of human overcome adversity which did happen and he got that with a little help from himself. He did horrible shit but the reason behind it was not horrible after all. Last Topic-
Sugou. Sugou was always meant to be hated in this arc. He wanted money and power, did horrible things to innocent people, sexually assualted Asuna. A lot of people say he is generically evil but thinking realistically, give a guy infinite power in a world where he can achieve-
anything and that person would do it. In short summary, Fairy Dance is not one of the worst arcs in anime. You have to be able to look at it a deeper sense and I just absolute hate when people trash SAO or hate on this arc specifically.
