(1/?) What Section 230 allows: a lawless internet where image hosting websites, social media websites, porn sites are never legally liable for any content posted. What does this mean? They can be half ass at removing CSEM+ half ass reporting CSEM +monetize on this content
(2/?) while it’s still up because they know there are NO legal ramifications that can be taken. They issue no apologies for this content being upload. They don’t even reach out to victims whose content is posted on their website.
(3/?) Since there is a lack of regulation companies due the bare minimum to prevent CSEM on their platforms. This is why an account with 500 followers existed since June constantly posting CSEM. Victims aren’t allowed to sue the corporations on the grounds of negligence because
(4/?) Section 230 protects companies. So while companies like Pornhub monetize on CSEM. Ads run on Twitter’s platform in between images of children being abused. Survivors will never see a dime of that because the government has failed us time and time again.
(5/5) In conclusion without there being legal liability/accountability these companies won’t sue the right thing. Now more than ever we need regulation.
