🚨Personal Finance 101🚨

I've had a lot of new followers join the ride in the last month.

So here's a MEGA thread below for anyone that's getting started in personal finance and investing.

Success in personal finance derives from two things

1. Spend less than your income
2. Grow your income

Done.

That's it.

Secret to money life.

I've saved you Hundreds of dollars on personal finance book by Kiyosaki, Bach, Orman and so forth.
HOW you spend less is a different story.

Budgets help out there because if you don't know what you're measuring you don't know what to manage.

My friend @finance_hipster has written a nice book on it. It's fantastic and has a bonus.

At some point you'll want to earn more money.

If you're looking for the fastest path to side income, I see people having a lot of success using @CoachJoeHart's course.

Not an affiliate, but something I'd look into.
If you go the side hustle route you'll want to pick up @CJ_Johnson17th to learn marketing and growing a following.

Also not an affiliate but Twitter Money is eye opening to someone new to this strange part of Twitter.
If you decide to increase your income with Digital products, then check out @joserosado's work. I haven't read them, but have also heard many good things from my new Twitter friends.
Writing well is of paramount importance to successful digital products.

I happen to have really taken off after reading @CMillerTalks's book.

I've gained 2,057 followers in 28 days because of it.

Expensive, but well worth the investment

After you've increased your income you'll want to start investing. Lots of resources and strategies here.

You'll want to go wide to learn about everything.

There's @thewealthdad for index investing.

There's @investingwbrady for CONSERVATIVE options strategies.
I'm pretty conservative using dividends primarily to generate passive income.

I've written a book on it called Too Much Money where I outline my strategy that generates me a four figure passive income every month. https://gum.co/CSdwG
There's also a great perspective from my friend @CalebGregory304.

His approach is slightly more conservative than mine and focuses on super high quality companies.

I'm an affiliate because it is a solid strategy and his Exit Plan book is awesome https://gumroad.com/a/681735283
At this point you'll want to learn about financial statements and why they're important.

Every company's stock price is driven by something about their financial performance.

I spent $40k on my finance degree and MBA plus 6 years as a credit analyst doing this.
Getting back to dividends...

I invest my portfolio into 3 main buckets

30% Corporate Stocks
20% MLPs
50% REITs

As an analyst I used to underwrite loans for REITs and private Real Estate partnerships so I invest in what I know.
Finally, you'll notice that I've posted links to various products that I trust are good.

I've read ALL of them and I've read lots of others.

It's not that the others are bad by any means.

These are just the best values IMO.
As always, my DMs are open for anyone new to investing, side hustles, etc.

And to steal Jay's tagline.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
