Vol 1 of LGBT+ romance drama series Blue Flag just released in English and it& #39;s excellent - an expertly told and skilfully drawn story of a love triangle between a plain high school boy, their closeted best friend and a girl who likes him. This is shaping up to be a MUST read
This manga, which ran in Shonen Jump+, really represents a breakthrough IMO - very few Shonen Jump stories have ever touched on LGBT+ topics beyond joke characters, and furthermore that the gay character is athletic and mascuiline
Tai really hits that sweetspot for me of plain high school boy protagonist who& #39;s relatable and fun to watch, tries to help his classmates but also is kind of not a great person.
I love their friendship

I really like how distinctively the 3 main characters are drawn - for example the mangaka gives Futaba such a brilliant range of expressions, very well done
"I had no idea yet how it& #39;d turn out" hmm I have my theories about how this might end up shaking out (the manga ended very recently in Japan), if I& #39;m right the journey from here to there will be interesting...
I really can& #39;t praise the mangaka& #39;s art enough, especially the feature pages like this stand out so much
I can& #39;t get over how when Toma told Taichi about the sort of "girl" he likes he included just one truth, ie, about Tai& #39;s own black hair and he looked right at him. The closest he could come to confessing - damn I can tell this manga is going to emotionally DESTROY me
