Update on Head Start. Today @DCPSChancellor and @dcpublicschools responded to the letter from parents, elected officials and education advocacy groups we sent last week. Unfortunately, it contains no new information or commitments to the District& #39;s most vulnerable children.
We had 4 asks: commit to maintain the high standards of Head Start for health and safety, release a timeline of the decision-making process, publicly begin a process to reenter the program, and apologize to students and communities harmed by the decision.
They did none of that.
They did none of that.
To say I& #39;m deeply disappointed is an understatement. I& #39;m heartened though by the amazing group of advocates who aren& #39;t going to give up until we get a better commitment from @dcpublicschools to our children.
