Ranked: Kate Bush’s Discography
9. 50 Words for Snow (2011)

this album may be my least favourite, but it’s good nonetheless. It’s full of beautiful storytelling and enchanting vocals as per usual, but the songs are a bit lengthy and I rarely listen to the songs individually
8. Lionheart (1978)

after the success of The Kick Inside, Kate was pressured to release her sophomore album. This lead to a rushed project with little growth from her debut, but the songs are whimsical and still very enjoyable!
7. The Kick Inside (1978)

The Kick Inside is such an amazing debut. This album was an avant-goût to what was to come in her later projects: the way she incorporates litterature and art in her songs, her dreamy singing and catchy instrumentals.
6. The Sensual World (1989)

The Sensual World is an extremely beautiful, feminine and lush body of art. It’s a lively, passionate and romantic project where every song complements the next. Definitely an underrated album of hers.
5. Never For Ever (1980)

This may be Kate’s first dive into experimentation with darker and more other-worldly soundscapes. Her vocals are even more dynamic than before, the imagery more striking and her songwriting better than ever. A true masterpiece!
4. Hounds of Love (1985)

Hounds of Love is undeniably considered as her magnum opus by many. The first half has some of her best songs and the second side is a concept piece The Ninth Wave, perfectly showcases her immense talent in storytelling.
3. The Red Shoes (1993)

This album was made at a very traumatic and difficult part of Kate’s life and it shows. The songs are poignant & emotional: some of her best in my opinion. Also paired with a short movie, this album is beautiful from beginning to end.
2. Aerial (2005)

After a 12 year hiatus, Kate came back with an amazing two part album. Her voice, mixed with birdsong and the domestic thematic of the lyrics create a warm and comforting project to listen to. Definitely another underrated album of hers!
1. The Dreaming (1982)

My favourite Kate Bush album and an under appreciated gem, this album is when Kate fully came into her own. Listening is an experience, never a dull moment and zero skips: one of the best albums of all time in my opinion!
