Something everyone should remember when Mitch McConnell says let states and cities go bankrupt and Nikki Haley says states shouldn't "take Fed money or be bailed out" is that how eager they were to get federal money for their own states.

Across the country, state and local governments are bearing the brunt of the pandemic response, and also the brunt of its costs. Refusing to help them would lead to massive job losses and hamstring their ability to respond to new waves of infection, endangering American lives. 6/
