girlies think that chart positions and hitting high notes are the epitome of musical artistry... being talented vocally makes you a good singer but it doesn't make you an artist. there's a HUGE difference
if there's no depth or creativity, and if the music you're creating lacks emotion and personality, your great voice just won't make up for it. just because someone doesn't possess the vocal range of all the heaven's angels does not mean they are a bad singer.
. not charting for ages doesn't make you a bad singer or a shitty musician. not having the mainstream pop sound to your music doesn't make you a bad singer OR a bad musician.
the reason these people aren't appreciating music as a whole is because they literally don't know how. newsflash: music isn't JUST about singing. it's about expressing yourself however YOU want to.
the thing with louis is that no, he might not have the widest vocal range, but that doesn't mean he's actually "lacking" something. still, what makes up for it? artistry.
these people, for whatever reason, cannot process individuality. idk if it scares people but as soon as someone suddenly differs from the image people have created of them in their heads they get defensive and angry about inevitably having the realization "wait, i was wrong."
this is a huge thing generally in pop fans. it's literally as if everything that's not strictly pop flies straight out of the window. experiment and creativity do not stand a chance. and these are also the same people who judge people solely by the range of someone's voice,
not the emotion behind it. louis' VOICE conveys emotions. you can be the best singer and be able to sound beautiful no matter what you're singing, but still lack the most important thing as a musician. being able to deliver emotions WITH YOUR VOICE. it isn't something you
can teach yourself. you either know how to do it or you don't. louis' voice is a perfect example of it. he makes you actually feel those emotions and it he makes you feel like there's actual meaning behind what he's saying. he makes it personal yet still open.
just because he doesn't meet your exaggerated and restrictive standards doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the love and praise he gets. he's an amazing lyricist, storyteller, and artist. you do not have to like him but discrediting his art only because of your own weird personal
completely unsolicited grudge and problems against him is completely unfair. don't like him? don't like his music? okay, don't listen to it. it is LITERALLY that simple. <3
