PUBLIC ADVISORY: Forest Fire Season is now in effect on the Island until Sept. 30, 2020 and will be in effect in Labrador June 1-Sept. 30, 2020. #GovNL is NOT banning backyard fires, but we want you to use caution to protect our forests & the people who take care of them.
Fire-fighting is an extremely dangerous job at the best of times – COVID-19 adds extra danger. Be careful & help minimize the # of times fire-fighters are called out. That means NO brush burning & NO grass fires. Backyard campfires are fine, but follow your town’s municipal regs.
Backyard & patio fire pits & outdoor wood-burning units are OK to use if:

Fires for agricultural purposes are permitted during Forest Fire Season, but you will require a permit before you burn. Contact your local Forestry & Wildlife office, listed at http://bit.ly/2xTyeA8 ">https://bit.ly/2xTyeA8&q...
Please continue to practice physical distancing & be safe during Forest Fire Season 2020. Help protect our forests & fire-fighters & front-line responders so they can continue to protect you. Enjoy your campfires! #GovNL
