the way we classify countries is v ugly to me. “developing country” implies that the country is just slow to progress. it implies that its people aren’t as capable as the people of a “developed country”.

it implies that developed countries are finished and near-perfect but that there is something inherently wrong and unfinished about the way these other countries operate. most importantly it ignores history. i prefer to call these nations “recovering countries” bc+

they have to recover from the consequences of imperialism and colonization and slavery. a lot of countries in africa, as an example, aren’t even completely independent from the crown. western powers have created a lot of ways to support their perceived sense of superiority

over the very nations and peoples that they robbed. and now these western countries refuse to offer aid and support when something goes wrong in a recovering country..
