This profile of Frank Gabrin, the first ER doctor to die of the virus, is gutting. He felt sure he had contracted the disease from re-wearing a mask four days in a row. He died in his husband& #39;s arms.

Dez-Ann Romain, 36, was the first NYC Public Schools employee to die of the virus. She secured prom dresses, scholarships and immigration lawyers for her students. She did pushups with the basketball team. She gave haircuts, too.
