If we can't hold our "leaders" accountable we must ask for more from the press. trump mustn't be given free reign to lie and avoid questions. He must be fact checked on the spot. Questions should only be for experts re: virus.

We are starting to trade ratings for public safety.

There are a few reporters in the room good at pressing him, @weijia, @kaitlancollins, @Acosta, @JDiamond1, @PaulaReidCBS and others. But his lies being aired live give fuel to the base of supporters who ONLY believe him. He is increasingly incoherent and dangerous. Not normal.

The press is the only form of accountability we have for a madman who refuses to follow rules or laws. Who dismantles the very systems designed to check him. Who lies, backtracks, and denies. We are talking about the president of the united states here. Seems we've forgotten.

trump cares about one single thing: Himself. How he is portrayed is what drives his actions. His mental state and condition need to be covered. We cannot go on pretending like what he says is acceptable human behavior. If he were in any other position he'd have been removed.

I understand everyone tunes in to watch his meltdowns and see who he will flip out on next, but at what cost? What level of destruction are we to wait for? How far must we sink in the eyes of the world before something is done? Politicians are clearly powerless. The press is not.

Obviously I am frustrated today. The cult following will tell you he did not say what you heard him say. He himself tells you. We are drifting into an alternate reality and I refuse to sit by and allow it to consume us. There has to be another way.
