i should explain this:
the beatles’ 1970’s hit ‘Let It Be’ is about member Paul McCartney having a dream in the 60’s where his mother (who died when he was 14 from cancer) reassures him that’s it’s going to be okay, and to just “let it be...”

"I had a dream in the Sixties where my mum who died came to me in a dream and was reassuring me, saying: 'It's gonna be OK. Just let it be..."

McCartney's mother was also named Mary, which has been cited as an inspiration for the "Mother Mary" lyric.

my nonna was 64 when she died, which is the reason why i cannot listen to their hit, ‘When I’m Sixty-Four’, but that’s a thread for another time. my nonna’s name was also Mary. i’ve had dreams about her before, and the lines in the song

hits me in the heart, because i know how my nonna would say that sort of thing to me. her soft words would touch me.
