I’m gonna make this into a thread because it’s something I notice a lot in games.

I find that parties tend to become more reckless when they have a cleric in the group. They make bolder & more dangerous choices because they believe they are semi-untouchable. 01/05 https://twitter.com/rowdimusmaximus/status/1253730377849384960
AHT. Wrong. Again, the cleric is not there to be your personal stabilizer each time to go into combat and get knocked out. Perhaps, that was the place of a cleric in the past — but being a cleric nowadays is not about healing and warmth. It’s about faith. 02/05
A cleric’s main focus is to do the work of their favored deity and live right in THEIR name. No one elses.

If the cleric in your party prays to Tiamat — would you really assume then that their main goal is keeping YOU alive?

That’s a negative, ghost rider. 03/05
I think there is an unfair leaning upon a cleric to just HEAL & keep folks alive when it’s also the duty of the barbarian/fighter/rogue/anyone who can take damage to not just rush in and force the cleric into that situation. It’s a form of selfishness that’s not okay. 04/05
I say all of this to simply say — be mindful. Yes, we know the separation of player vs character. But if you’re just gonna run into a multitude of skeletal minotaurs w/out warning or thinking then expect the cleric to constantly save you... don’t be surprised if they don’t. 05/05
