No firm date set for the K League on when the games will be open to fans, as the season will start on 8 May with closed-door games. When fan admission is allowed, plan is to open parts of the stands initially and gradually increasing seating availability as the season progresses.
When and if a K League player is tested positive for coronavirus after the 2020 season kicks off, his team and the latest opponent they've faced will be suspended from playing for AT LEAST two weeks. The rest of the teams will continue playing, according to the K League PR staff.
The K League will follow the AFC Champions League guidelines on hosting closed-door games, according to the league PR staff. The ACL requires the hosting teams of closed door games to block/close all areas around the stadium that mass crowds could gather to watch the game.
The newly arranged fixtures for the shortened 27-round 2020 K League season will be released in full next week. Games in Daegu, a city hit hardest by the outbreak in Korea, will be limited at the start of the season. The season is expected to conclude no later than mid-December.
If a second wave of coronavirus outbreak ends the 2020 season AFTER the K League 1 has completed at least 22 rounds, the league table by then will be upheld as the final outcome. First place finishers will be crowned champions and ACL slots for 2021 will be granted accordingly.
