/ I have Ss complete a check-in form whenever we meet. Questions vary. 2 weeks ago I asked for recommendations for something to do, watch, listen to. The suggestions were 🔥. This week I asked "What do you hope we learn from our experiences during the pandemic."
/ Their responses were beyond insightful and reminded me why I love teaching, and why in many cases, kids are much better people than adults. @TeachersOnFire @teacher2teacher @MarisaEThompson @japhillips0722 @DougTimm34 My students responses:
/ "Learn Your Facts About Current Events So You Don't Risk Your Life and Others"
/ "Be this sanitary all the time, not just when people tell you to."
/ "In times of crisis, we all have to stick together"
/ "That people learn to take care of the earth. lots of positive outcomes have occured from people being quarantined"
/ "I hope people take away how important leaders like the president are when choosing a new one and I hope people see how important being healthy is."
/ "I hope I learn to never take talking to my friends everyday and going to different places for granted."
/ "that normal school is not that bad"
/ "One thing which I would like to learn or take away from the experience or the pandemic is learning how to cook something other than eggs, bacon, and brownies as currently those are the only three things I can make without somehow messing up in the process."
/ "when the pandemic is finally over, i hope that it will teach me to be more appreciative of the moment, and i hope it teaches me to be in the moment."
/ "People's health is more important than being able to eat out."
/ "I don't know, maybe they will learn how much they value the others around them and their freedom."
/ These responses are a few of the 122 insightful responses I got. In my 16 years of teaching, I'm consistently reminded that I learn more from my students than they will every learn from me. Being in this profession is a blessing.
