Jennifer from Irish Seed Savers says "growing your own food gives a sense of control in unusual times... local food is key to sustainable living"
Sinéad from XR says "it is a really good time for learning... a time to connect"
Fergal from Moy Hill Farm says "everyone has become overnight gardeners... we are realising what is essential"
Rhiannon from FFF Clare asks "I have a lot more time to do things like gardening... how can we keep on promoting outdoor living and slowing down?"
answers included
-asking to work from home if possible (acknowledging everyone has different schedules and coordinating a family can take up time!)
-encourage the change to a four day work week
-make online school work so you can advocate for it 1 day a week in the future!
another question was that "there are so many groups that want the same things, how can we continue this conversation?"
answers included:
-continuing to have these discussions about sustainability
-amplify each other's voices to promote local producers
-regular meetings between groups as we transition in the future out of this lockdown
Kate from XRY Clare said that they are "grounding ourselves, taking time to rest and the time to get to know each other... building up the network"
we also want to point out that we understand that the lockdown isn't a period of rest for everyone and we aren't trying to diminish that fact
Theresa from Futureproof Clare told us about their aims, including to "build resilience" which is well suited to times like these!
