Sometimes his comedy is predictable but that does not matter because our lives and the tyrannies are predictable as well!

His body language thrives on exaggeration. That doesn’t make him overrated. If he is overrated the entire slapstick genre and stand up comedies are overrated.

The rural milieu he so elegantly brings out is how things work in rural TN. If you don’t relate to it, you are probably not the market for it. That doesn’t make him overrated.

His depth and versatility in performance can be understood from two particular characters he portrayed in Devar Magan and 23m Pulikesi - such varied portrayals at very different stages in his career.

He is underrated because had he been given his rightful place or had he been a bit more smarter, he’d have essayed more timeless roles of depth.

Above all, life is more tolerable because of his -isms that are intertwined into how we scrape through the ennui of living. That alone is a testimony to his impact.
