We were hit with the mother of all black swans. A “Novel,” virus. (Look it up). No testing kits available for it, THEY HAD TO BE INVENTED. The first kits were garbage. Many couldn’t understand this and continue to be naive to it.
We were looking at a TOTAL collapse of our healthcare system and the economy, an unimaginable event that thankfully never happened.
After the President was told by his Task Force, that 1-2 million people could die from this virus he had no choice, but to keep people away from it. Imagine for a minute what could’ve happened if our HC system was completely overwhelmed by +1,000,000 Covid patients?
Many State Governors had no idea how much medical equipment they had or were required to have. They had to be told and given guidance, but that’s what the federal government does, it backs up and supports states who need it.
“BTW, we just found 1.5 million masks in our warehouse,” a State Governor said. The general response mechanisms that individual governors were SUPPOSED to maintain, many did not and the outdated response systems didn’t prepare us for this level of contagion.
Many Companies stepped up and volunteered to make medical equipment, the Production Act never had to be used. Recall WW2.
The reality is we had no where near the number of ventilators needed to potentially save as many lives as possible, remember, the initial models said 1-2 million dead.
The only way to keep the country intact, was to separate the population from each other. Unbelievable isn’t it?
Countless lives have been saved as a result and yes we have SACRIFICED for it, for the good of everyone. All of my VA appointments and treatments have been canceled until further notice and I understand why (VA letter attached).
Remember, this was a FORCED shutdown, recession, call it what you want and not something brought on by companies and market traders completely screwing up (that’s what brought on the Great Recession in 2008).
Our country will be better off after this passes, which it will. So, as go on with my restricted life, (some of you unreasonably more than others), which I am not happy about, I know this, it is temporary and it’s already looking better. Life will go on as it always does.
Lastly, I’d like to thank @realDonaldTrump @VP, the entire Coronavirus Task Force team and the unbelievable amount of Americans who have sacrificed their own time and energy to save an unimaginable amount of lives.
