I have an awful lot to say on this matter; far too much for a Twitter thread and in any case it’s part of a work in progress that I hope to publish once my thesis is done. But I won’t have the wonderful kindness shown to me by so many women trashed by a misogynist troll. #Fuming

Seeing as I’m hopping mad with the effing TRAs and it’s one hour and five minutes till effing G&T time I will give one example of the love & support that I, as a transsexual, have experienced from women. I was working in local govt in Scotland when I transitioned in the early 90s

Due to reorganisation I had to move office, it was about nine months before my op. On the first day my line manager approached me to voice the concerns of my female colleagues who requested that prior to surgery I use the ‘disabled’ lavatory. I had no problem with this.

When I returned to work I asked whether they’d still prefer me to use the ‘disabled’ loo but they were fine with me using the women’s. A few months later, and even 25 years later this gesture still brings tears to my eyes, I was invited to the women’s Xmas bash.

I neither solicited nor demanded the invite. It wasn’t extended in a patronising manner and at that time there were, thankfully, no ‘interest groups’ to force their hand. The same attitudes applied when I was fit enough to play (mixed) football again.

Make no mistake, ‘transitioning’ isn’t easy but mine was made so much easier not by gaslighting ‘transactivists’ but by women. From the receptionist at the GP surgery to my work colleagues to my psychologist. I owe all these women a huge debt

and that’s why I’ll always put women’s rights above trans rights. And that’s why I’m so effing mad at that effing transperson’s misogynist Tweet right now. It’s a girt, humungeous and outrageous lie. Anyway, maybe next year you’ll be able to read the book which will dispel

some of the dangerous myths and falsehoods ‘trans activists’ perpetuate on a regular basis.
