RCMP say 22 people have died and 3 were injured.
They're explaining the location is small, rural, with homes set back from roadways and no sidewalks or street lights.
Supt. Campbell says the officers responding did not have the benefit of knowing what we know now. He says he will be walking us through three clusters of incidents: Portapique, Wentworth/Debert, Shubenacadie areas.
RCMP have released a map with time stamps of when the killings began in each area.
-Saturday 10:26 PM Portapique
-Sunday 9:35 AM Wentworth
-Sunday 10:08 AM Debert
-Sunday 10:49 AM Shubenacadie
-Sunday 11:26 AM Enfield

There’s another map that shows where people were killed in Portapique. This all occurred Saturday night. The shooter set several structures on fire that night too.

This lines up with new reporting from Global News, which shows that many of the victims were neighbours of the gunman.

When police arrived on scene they found that someone had been shot. This person told police that he was shot while driving, by another person who was driving what looked like a police car. #NovaScotiaShootings
This was the only roadway into the area. Police arrived in Portapique to find several structures on fire and several people already dead. Police started looking at a number of possibly suspects at this time, they say. This is Saturday night.
Several teams called in that night: K9, emergency response units, air support.
"Fairly early into our involvement we learned of a possible suspect" police say, and they learned he lived in the area and that his home and garage were burning.

Police say they learned the suspect owned several vehicles that looked like police vehicles. Some were burning. When the victim came out of hiding that morning she said he had pistols, long guns, a police uniform and vehicle that looked like a cruiser. #NovaScotiaShootings
More than 12 hours after police initially arrived in the area they started getting another series of 911 calls, from an area 60km away. The gunman went to a home in the Glenholme area, killing two men and a woman and setting a house on fire. #NovaScotiaShootings
Gunman then went to another house in the area, knocked on the door. He knew them, they didn't answer the door but they did call 911. He left the house, driving south, and shot a woman (Lillian Hyslop) who was walking on the side of the road. #NovaScotiaShootings
He then drove toward Debert. He pulled over a vehicle and shot the driver, and then continued on and shot another person he encountered while driving. (RCMP are not giving us the names of these victims at this time so unless I'm sure I'm not attaching names in this thread.)
Not an unexpected detail, but a shocking one, is that the gunman was pulling over drivers using his fake police car and then killing them. Just speaks to the horrific nature of this killing spree and how he used people's trust of the police against them. #NovaScotiaShootings
The killings of the two drivers in the Debert area happened at 10:08 AM Sunday, according to the RCMP map provided today. RCMP Tweeted the picture of the gunman's fake police cruiser at 10:17 AM. The public did not know he was pretending to be a cop. #NovaScotiaShootings
Const. Chad Morrison and Const. Heidi Stevenson were working out of the Enfield detachment that morning and were arranging to meet. Const. Morrison was waiting to meet when a marked vehicle arrived - but it was the gunman, who shot the officer several times. He drove away.
Const. Stevenson was nearby, driving on Hwy 2. So was the gunman. She and the gunman collided head on. She "engaged" him, he killed her and took her gun. The gunman shot a passerby, set the RCMP car/his car on fire and took the silver Chevy Tracker. #NovaScotiaShootings
The gunman went to Gina Goulet's house next, killing her, trading in his police clothes and taking her vehicle. He continued to Enfield where it just happened that police were filling up with gas. This is where they shot and killed him.
