Note taking is an immensely valuable skill, but I'm still struggling to do it in any sustainable way.

Currently, I read something and jot down a summary in Evernote, typically 1wk-1mt after finishing. But it's too high friction, which means it often doesn't get done at all.
Ideally, note taking would be done more in the moment, in a low friction way. Just download thoughts, a quick summary, and maybe a quote.

I experimented with this using Twitter, with the book You're Not Listening, and I've kind of liked it https://twitter.com/avram_twitchell/status/1250812409285013506?s=19
It will still probably be valuable to write some sort of well-organized summary, but this way even if I never get to it, I have a Twitter thread I can use!
Given my nearly 2 decades of education, can't help feeling bitter that my note taking is still bad!

Not only that, but the notes I did take are nearly entirely useless. Got great grades at the time, but I remember little, and my notes won't help if I ever am interested again
I like this framing of notes as info routing. Notes are insufficient~you need a good way to get to relevant info.

Lots of great info connected to this thread https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1259368592925048832?s=19
