My concern with last night's selection has nothing to do with Jordan Love being a quarterback. I'm of the belief that if you love a quarterback, you always take him, no matter what. But I have some serious concerns on Love that need answering. (Thread).
Per @Jimetrics, the average career FBS score for even an average starting quarterback was 70.76. Love wasn't even close with 33.49. He doesn't come close to hitting the acceptable threshold. /2
Then you have this concerning statistic from @PFF_Mike. Love was highly inaccurate when targeting OPEN receivers 5-18 yards downfield. /3
Love's college QBR of 59.8 is only in the 12th percentile for quarterbacks. His yards/attempt was only in the 41st percentile. /4
Love also came in below average for draftable quarterbacks on adjusted accuracy, accuracy under pressure, accuracy outside the pocket, accuracy on play action, and explosive play %. That's... concerning. /5
Even if you account for some of Love's poor play around him, and the drops by his receivers, his adjusted completion percentage was below the top quarterbacks in this years' draft: /6
Another concerning look at some of Love's accuracy issues and interceptable pass ratio from 2019. He had by far the highest level of interceptable passes from the top QB's in 2019 /7
Love also wasn't as successful at generating yards through deep passing: /8
Love was 5th out of the top 5 quarterbacks on passes beyond 20 yards. /9
A good look at some of the concerns with Love from @PFF. /10 https://twitter.com/PFF_College/status/1228016233888399360?s=20
Maybe the most damning statistic from 2019:
/11
The same issues he was having in season were still manifesting in Senior Bowl practices /12 https://twitter.com/LedyardNFLDraft/status/1220431309283172352?s=20
Another look at some of the issues with interceptions from this past season. /13 https://twitter.com/pff_seth/status/1250158940844969984?s=20
Per @PFF - Jordan Love lead the FBS in interceptions in 2019 when throwing into tight windows.

Even more concerning was his 48.4 PFF grade when under pressure. He graded fine when he was clean, but when he was under pressure he often panicked and made poor decisions. /14
The good news is that most of these stats & analytics are from 2019. The Packers are hoping they can get 2018 Jordan Love. Those numbers/analytics would look much better. But the 2019 numbers/tape is concerning to say the least. /End
