Evil Eye and Protection: a thread

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake the divine decree (Al-Qadar) it would be the evil eye.” (Muslim 2188)

There are different types of evil eye:

(العين) Ayn - The eye from someone who may love or know you and not have evil intentions towards you.

(الحســـد) Hasad - The envious eye from someone who hates or dislikes you or something you have but wants it removed from you.

(النفس) Nafs - The admiring eye which a person can put on themself.

(النظرة) Nathara - The evil eye which comes from the Jinn.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Most of those who die amongst my ummah do so – after the will and decree of Allah – because of the evil eye.” (Bazzār)

Prevention is better than cure, the effects of evil eye can be deadly. Say بسم الله before you do things such as undressing, entering your house and eating

Say MāshaAllah on your own blessings and possessions and seek blessings from Allah (SWT) for other people. You don’t necessarily have to be jealous of someone to give them evil eye. Evil eye can happen if you simply like something someone else has

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever among you sees something in himself or in his possessions or in his brother that he likes, let him pray for blessing for it, because the evil eye is real.” (Ibn al-Sunni , al-Haakim)

Give charity, this will remove calamities. Be kind to others, send peace upon them and send gifts. This will remove jealousy and evil desires from their hearts. Be happy with Allah’s decree.

The Prophet said: “Resort to concealing the fulfilment and success of your needs, for verily every one endowed with a blessing is envied.”
narrated from the hadeeth of Mu’adh ibn Jabal, ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, Ibn ‘Abbas, Abu Hurayrah and Abu Bardah (may Allah be pleased with them)

The last 3 Sūrahs of the Qur’ān are the strongest protection against envy, evil eye, magic and jinn. It is Sunnah to read them three times in the morning and evening, three times before going to sleep, once after every Salāh, and when one is ill.

Say a’oodhu bi kalimaatillaahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaq
The Prophet said: “Whosoever says at nightfall: I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil in what He has created- no harm shall affect him” (Muslim)

I just wanted to add, yes evil eye can be so dangerous but you shouldn’t be scared of it, you should only fear Allah. Put complete trust in Him because He knows best and always has a plan for you
