We're a month into lockdown & @CitizensAdvice's data's painting an interesting picture of the housing problems people are facing because of coronavirus.
Unsurprisingly renters face the brunt of them - which makes protections for them ending soon even more worrying #Covid19uk 1/6
Our 3 most viewed housing web pages since the 23rd of March are:

1. Dealing with rent arrears 💷
2. Ending your tenancy 🏡
3. Complaining about your neighbour 🗣
And the most common reasons why people have come to us for help are problems with private renting, rent arrears, and threatened homelessness.

In total 4,275 people have come to us in the last month with problems with rent arrears. This chart breaks it down a bit more 👇🏻
This comes through in our client stories too.

Most people coming to us with rent arrears have suffered a real-terms income drop because of coronavirus from:
❗ Job loss
❗ Furlough causing a drop in income
❗ The wait for financial support
[cw: abuse] We’re also seeing that not being able to move house during the lockdown is putting people in danger

Moves arranged pre-lockdown have fallen through & people are struggling to find new homes

This is leaving people trying to move out of abusive households stranded
Once the eviction pause ends, rent arrears won’t vanish. While many are doing the right thing & supporting tenants, some landlords + letting agents are already warning people they’ll be evicted in June. Renters will need further protection as they continue managing their arrears!
