One thing that I see a lot of lately is people talking in absolutes.

"Oil/gas complex is dead."
"Colleges are done."
"Era of large corporate headquarters is over."

I don't recall so many absolutes during the financial crisis (entire financial system came close to collapsing.)
Given the amount of unknown that is out there (arguably more unknown now than during the financial crisis since we are dealing with a health crisis that we still don't know much about), it's odd how many people are comfortable talking about the future with so much certainty.
I would be much more comfortable saying "economic fallout from the pandemic will accelerate existing trends." However, that's very different than saying "ABC is done" or "ABC is over" where ABC may conceivably still have an existence measured in decades.
