1/ If you want to know why #COVID has torn through #NYC so badly, you really only need one number: 10,500.

That's the metro NYC population density per square kilometer. (It's almost 26,000/sqkm in Manhattan).

For perspective....
2/ The population density of metropolitan Hamburg (Germany) is about 2460/sqkm.

The population density of metropolitan Oslo (Norway) is about 1500/sqkm.

So NYC is 10x as densely populated as Oslo.

Greater pop. density = exponentially more human interactions at close quarters.
3/ And that - not red/blue or white/black/brown - is why #COVID has torn through #NYC. It's a simple math problem.

NOTE: This is NOT a criticism of NYC. It's a beautiful city. I've been there many times and love it.

It's also the most densely populated patch of land in the U.S.
4/ So let's stop playing the blame game and take care of the brave people on the front lines of the deadliest pandemic since 1918.

Please.

Thank you.
