2. But, first. Lets pause. A hat tip to some tenacious and sharp journalists on the health beat who have been helping us all see the truth when the government obfuscates it. And to ask the right questions. Doggedly.

Most of these are women journalists (say, yeay!).

Now....

2. This is Paul warning the government how much hospital capacity, ventilators etc will be required for just 500 infections per day!

3. The ICMR findings that the lockdown will have only 20-25% effect. Delhi alone would still see 6 lakh cases (unless govt acts scientifically)

4. Here is ICMR's conclusion (in April 1st week, about 10 days into unscientific #lockdown).

It says "Generalised large scale transmission is inevitable with devastating numbers spaced by time & location."

ICMR predicts peaking at 200-300 day. Right now we are at 80-90 day.

5. This is ICMR saying "Only early quarantine works". Remember, this is April and the government has still not begun quarantining those with symptoms!

No protocol exists for surveillance or testing!

ICMR is warning govt this and not lockdown is the way to prevent the pandemic.

6. This is ICMR projecting the impact of extending the lockdown. Again it is insisting start a community-based test and quarantine system.

Remember its tough for scientists to tell the truth within the government. They need to couch truth carefully.

Its not tough for us.

7. We @reporters_co know these are not normal times. It is a pandemic.

We believe putting the facts out helps improve governance.

It spurs the government to do better. In this case, we hope, much better.
