Thread of the best Ramadan messages from football clubs. I just want to see who put the effort in 😂... đŸ‘‡đŸ»
Manchester United - Pretty week effort here, but what I will give them is the massive ugly font gives no doubts that it is, in fact, Ramadan. 4/10.
Much better offering from Arsenal, the ‘Guardian newspaper’ of football clubs weren’t going to miss a trick with this one, beautiful calligraphy, rest feels a bit lazy... but they’ve gone all out on the Arabic here. Smart. 6/10.
Tottenham Hotspur. Oh dear... I think someone forgot it was Ramadan and had to fire something out quickly, putting a Ramadan message on what seems like a generic ‘Happy Birthday’ you might get in the email. Not even any Islamic nods. Stadium’s nice though. 2/10.
Chelsea really forced home the lantern thing on this one, not a great font and no ‘from everyone at Chelsea’ leaves the message a bit hollow. However, didn’t just use a stock photo of the stadium and that should be massively commended, getting extra points due to effort. 7/10.
Liverpool having a lantern on the stadium really embracing it, even if it does look like an ice cream sundae. Liverpool seem to have an entire Arabic Twitter, which is cheating slightly. Calligraphy more copy and paste than Arsenal’s. Underwhelming considering the club rep. 5/10.
Glasgow Rangers didn’t do one, I am not shocked. 0/10.
Celtic coming up clutch. Real effort here, great use of green, an entirely original image incorporating the club badge, and reminding people to stay at home. No surprise at this one, not a stadium in sight, feels from the heart. 9/10.
From Manchester City; the lanterns of Chelsea, the calligraphy of Arsenal, the colour composition of a fool (white badge on light blue? Disaster). They’ve put a bit of effort in here conceptually, but they do have a lot to thank the Arab world for and it’s pretty ugly. 7/10.
Newcastle United. Nothing. I know they maybe haven’t got a global fan base, but I was expecting some twerking for the impending owners. Disappointing. 0/10.
Never missing a chance for best practice: Brentford. Not just a celebration of Ramadan but a “look at our Muslim player who we cherish”. While it’s transparent and basic, they’ve put some bigger clubs to shame here. 4/10.
Everton. I tell you what, while it’s pretty ugly and basic on first glance, they’ve really stayed true to Islamic mosaic and tiling styles with the finer details. That is a solid effort and gains my respect, even if they googled it. 7/10.
Aston Villa employing a similar tactic to Brentford maybe to prevent racist comments but well done for having 3 actual Muslim players. Tell you what, they tick a lot of boxes here. Lantern, moon crescent, and lovely calligraphy down the right hand side. Overachieved. 8/10.
Moving into Europe, Real Madrid have done very well here but lose points for having their Arabic account do it and not retweeting it onto their main. High points for visuals, low points for sincerity (and using a stadium pic). 5/10.
Nothing yet from Barcelona, but their Arabic account hasn’t tweeted today. Watch this space...
This is almost the anti-Real Madrid, evening out at the same score. This looks really really crap, but I feel like they genuinely tried. Bravo, Crystal Palace. Better luck next year. 5/10.
I was not expecting much from clubs with the most consistently racist fans from the big 5 leagues in Europe. But this is a fine offering from AC Milan imo. Subtle but classy, bonus points for probably upsetting ultras. 7/10.
Internazionale have definitely won the Derby della Madonnina here. Great effort and Islamic styles even if the colour could pop more. Supported by an anti-racist hashtag! #BrothersUniversallyUnited. For me, they meant it. 9/10.
AS Roma made a VIDEO. Serie A are wiping the floor with the Premier League atm. Amazing use of multimedia, but can’t help but feel it had so much more potential. 8/10. https://twitter.com/ASRomaEN/status/1253409626378440704
I’m loathe to credit Lazio moretime, but credit them I must. A basic offering visually but a whole tweet in Arabic saves it. 7/10.
Lovely visual offering from Juventus, not shared on main platform and pretty simple but I just can’t resist a good use of the colour pink. 8/10. https://twitter.com/juventusfcar/status/1253352939860746240
Napoli have ticked a lot of boxes but I just feel a bit empty from this. Can’t put my finger on why. The image in the middle is clunky but they have put some effort in. A reluctant 6/10.
If it wasn’t for me really vibing with the moon rotation at the bottom, then I’d be a bit embarrassed for Bayern here. 4/10.
Wow, well maybe that 4/10 was harsh in context as @BlackYellow @borussia_en & @RBLeipzig_EN didn’t bother with anything. I expected the Bundesliga to be all over this! Can’t say I’m not disappointed.
Hahahaha what the hell is this? This is awful. PSG aswell! Bankrolled by a whole Islamic country! 1/10.
Unsurprisingly the rest of France haven’t bothered.
Back to the Championship now where, let’s be honest, you could get away with not bothering. For that reason, they’re all 6/10 even if they are mostly dry and the same.
Had a look at Millwall and you have to respect how committed they are to their brand.

When everybody zigs, sometimes you’ve got to zag.
Pretty pathetic offering here from a club that have a big Muslim fanbase and had Mahrez & Kante to thank for their greatest year in existence. Bland, boring, and not bothered. 1/10.
But let’s finish on a high. I know I’ve criticised the use of stadiums but that’s more for the big boys. I also like the night sky as a background for the crescent. Lovely patterns within the moon, club badge isn’t too in your face. Just a really stylish attempt imo. 7/10.
Final rankings, some scores have been re-reviewed in context of what their competitiors have offered up.
I’ve learned something doing this thread. Apparently 1) AC Milan have a great record on racism and 2) AC Milan fans are very sensitive 😂
I must sincerely apologise to all the Dortmund dons. As pointed out by @jamalsunnie they have absolutely smashed it and take position at the top of the leaderboard.

Our first 10/10!!! https://twitter.com/blackyellow/status/1253325263175204868
Lateish entry, few clubs have jumped on the bandwagon now but this is very crisp from West Ham. 8/10 for me, one of the best Premier League attempts. https://twitter.com/westham/status/1253666248644349952
I’d missed this. Barcelona did indeed do their bit. Bit schmaltzy, but clearly took a bit of time. Certainly outdid Real Madrid here, which is what really matters. 8/10. https://twitter.com/fcbarcelona_ara/status/1253354599492341762
Straight with their Eid attempt at maghrib, @CelticFC come with another solid attempt although missing the wow factor of their Ramadan message. However big shouts for removing the alcohol and gambling sponsors. 8/10.

(I probably don’t have the stamina to do this again btw 😂)
Aesthetically smooth from Chelsea but lazy as they’ve copied the Arsenal model from Ramadan of ‘Arabic on stadium’. 6/10.
Credit to @Arsenal who clearly heard my criticisms of their Ramadan attempt. A player in duaa is a nice personal touch but I’m bored of stadiums now, and no calligraphy. 1 step forward, 1 step back. 6/10.
Ugly and rushed. 2/10.
Spot the difference 😮 borderline offensive levels of effort here, no shock really. 1/10.
Again copying the template of the Ramadan message like they didn’t have a month to prepare. What the hell are those balloons about? You just expect so much better from ‘club of the people’. 3/10.
Not quite the commitment of their Ramadan message design-wise but this just feels like a warm, fuzzy offering from the Toffees. #AllTogetherNow indeed lads. 5.5/10.
Better than their last effort, but a club this size probably have 60 social media people working for them and there’s levels to the game these days. Also a little bit scarily dark for a celebration, innit? 5/10.
Learned nothing from the last month of inward reflection, clearly. 1/10.
I got told off for my harsh review of Crystal Palace’s Ramadan message, but it’s clearly done the job cos this one is cleannn. The crescent is a fantastic touch. 7.5/10.
Actually preferred Villa’s last effort, felt more real. They’ve gone a bit Hollywood here and copied the big boys. It’s still a good effort, mind. 7/10.
Manchester City were put on the map by the finances of the Arab world, but no Eid message yet? Better be a 10/10 when it drops...
Not the car crash of the prequel, but still lazy. For reasons why PSG should care more, see above. Reference; City, Man. 2/10.
Hmmm! Interesting. I like the modern Arabic, I like the border, I like the little touch of blue and red each side. But stadium, again, and it’s just not very Eidy is it? 6/10.
It’s all just getting so samey. I know the moon crescent was confusing but you had at least 29 days. I’m waiting for someone to wow me. Dortmund didn’t. The crown remains there for the taking. 4/10.
Meh, yeah, nice, whatever. I need something new, something to really bring in the occasion. 5/10.
GOOOLAZOOOOOO!!!! BRAVISSIMO!

I have watched it twice and I don’t think the ‘kit and sky and brotherhood’ thing really makes sense, but who cares?

Bravo, Internazionale. Bravo.

10/10. https://twitter.com/inter_ar/status/1264217020960301056
I’m not a huge fan of the ‘wheel out the Muslims’ play, as it can allow the media team to think the job does itself. As has happened here. I now want Inter to win every Derby d’Italia. 4/10. https://twitter.com/juventusfcen/status/1264224574272667648
Ramadan is a time for reflection and over the last 30 days I realised I’d been too harsh on Roma’s first entry to this thread. I try to amend that here. They really reached for the tunes đŸŽ¶

Excellent. 9/10. https://twitter.com/asromaen/status/1264162191118303241
I can’t lie, nothing is topping Inter. That was sensational.
