You can’t stop under 18s from transitioning.

You CAN try to remove any social, familial, psychological and medical support from under 18s transitioning.

It won’t stop them from being trans, but it will cause them untold damage. And for what?
It is not only that conversion tactics - whether formal conversion therapy or family and social pressure not to be trans - are immoral.

It’s that they don’t work.

They have never worked.

And they never will work, no matter how many times they’re tried.
Pushing someone into silence, self-hatred, deception and self-denial doesn’t make them cis.
Last evening thought: I was a trans teenager coming out under section 28. Things were very hard at school. I didn’t have any medical support.

But my family were amazing. Things are damn hard for trans youth now, but we - as adults - have a duty to support them through it.
Family - parents, siblings, extended family, chosen family - please make your support obvious, proactive, and unshakeable.

Trans adults: we don’t tell our youth “it gets better” - we keep working to make sure it does. Fight’s not over until we win it.
